FLL (First Lego League)

Purpose: FIRST LEGO League introduces science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to children ages 4-16* through fun, exciting hands-on learning. Participants gain real-world problem-solving experiences through a guided, global robotics program, helping today’s students and teachers build a better future together. We seek to inspire youth to experiment and grow their critical thinking, coding, and design skills through hands-on STEM learning and robotics.

VEX Robotics

Purpose: VEX Robotics is a robotics program for elementary through university students, and a subset of Innovation First International. The VEX Robotics competitions and programs are managed by the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation (REC).[1] In April 2018, VEX Robotics Competition was named the largest robotics competition in the world by Guinness World Records.

Drone Competition

Purpose: HPS-wide/ Regional Competition - Presented in partnership with FTW Robotics and Rice University, HPS Drone Race is the perfect event offering elementary, middle school and high school students an opportunity to get hands-on experience in STEM education in the form of an affordable, fast-paced game. Students will learn to safely operate a drone, work as a team, and research workforce applications of aerial robotic technology; all while having a blast!

Purpose: Gaming club is an opportunity for students to socialize and have fun together based on their hobby of playing video games. Students will have an opportunity to play multi and single player games, and spend time discussing gaming strategies and preferences.

Purpose: The club offers students the opportunity to expand their strategic knowledge and critical thinking skills by providing a safe, fun and friendly location and atmosphere to gather and play various board games. Purpose: The cheer club is a FALL Semester club ONLY.
The mission of the HSA Waco Cheer Team is to promote Tiger Pride both on campus and around town. Students are never chosen based on ability or experience, but rather by exemplifying the Tiger Pride Values which are Positivity, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence. A selection committee will be speaking to each potential member's teachers to choose the students who will be on this year's team based solely on how well they show Tiger Pride daily.
While we would love to be able to have all interested students participate, spaces are limited and no student is guaranteed a spot.
